A subliminal Christmas with Jessye Norman

Jessye Norman has a powerful and beautiful voice; and When that voice is combined with traditional carols, a cathedral and a big orchestra the result is a journey throughout our childhood full of christmas trees, gifts, snow and chilly air.
If you're going to buy just one Christmas CD...,
By Ali Kashani "kashania"
From the first bars of the CD's first track "O come Emanuel", it is obvious that this is not just another "enjoyable" Christmas CD. Not that this CD isn't enjoyable -- it certainly is. But, it is refreshing to have arrangements that are so sophisticated and well-crafted. And Jessye Norman gives these arrangements the full attention of her vocal gifts and considerable musicality. Her rich, sumptous voice caresses the soul and sends the spirit soaring.

The fabulous voice of Miss Norman has never sounded better; the final "Amen" is one of my favorite tracks anywhere.
Jessye Norman - Christmastide, June 21, 2013

Jessye Norman is one of my favorite operatic singers, and when I saw this performance on television, I was moved to tears.
The music, with the boys choir in the background, is truly inspirational.

This CD/video contains what I believe to be the most beautiful rendotion of "Silent NIght" ever recorded. The setting captures the spirit of a quintessential English Christmas and is perfect for Norman's amazing voice.
